Okay, so I randomly by chance found this really cool starting out manga on DA. The artist has his own unique style, and definately unique characters! I mean... I haven't seen hamster people done before, have you? And the way he can do landscapes and backgrounds... *sigh* Just makes me realize how lacking I am in that area...
But anyways! The characters are:
The dreaming one: Julius Hamsterdam
The one being dreamed of: Shelby
Cool/punk in the back: Toby Sprocket
Big dude in the back: Algora Bastro
I hope I both drew the characters correctly AND got their personalities right....
Ahhhh! I absolutely love it! It has the honor of being my first favorite on DA, and a personal favorite of mine.
You captured their characteristics so well. I bursted out in laughter when I read this. And are you kidding me? You are a fantastic artist already! Well done!
Looking at it brings a huge smile to my face. It really is an honor. Thank you soooo much!
You really like it! I'm relieved! I was worried there for a bit... 'cause, y'know, most artists who are just starting out feel a little bit anxious when presenting their work to superior artists.
No, I love it! If I had a printer, I'd print it out and post it on my wall for inspiration. I'm pumped now, as I want to keep drawing the manga!
I really think you did a great job. The attention to detail is amazing. One of my weak areas in art is fabric/folds. It seems you've already got a great handle on that already. And I love how these characters are depicted. It's a surreal feeling to have my characters drawn and rendered by a fellow artist.
I can't thank you enough for the time you've put into this work. I want to get better (artistically and story-wise) so I can live up to your expectations for this manga. And thanks for promoting my characters!
I've actually been in a bit of an art slump, so really I should be thanking you for giving me a little zap of inspiration and drive! *bows in a formal asian style, hands on thighs* Arigatou gozaimasu! (blah... five years of Japanese class and that's the best that comes to mind... ^^' )
Uhm... I kind of have two small requests.
1) Could you possibley look around my gallery and give some cronstructive feedback?
2) I notice you have no scraps on DA, I personally LOVE to see other people's sketches and the different stages of their creative development of pictures. So, if you have any sketches lying around... or feel like scanning in a comic page before it is inked, I would be absolutely Delighted.
Interesting. That is the least I could do for you.
As for 1) it would be my pleasure to give you constructive feedback.
As for 2), I am pretty anal and I only like to post finished products. But I'll look around and see if I have any early drafts/pre-inked images that I have. I've had this manga idea brewing for quite some time, and I know if I go back to my notebooks during college, I'm bound to find lots of doodles, which are essentially early renditions of the characters from my current manga.
So to answer your request, I will say yes to both!
